The MediaLight Mk2 Bulb is no ordinary bulb.  It does not use a cheap COB light source. It contains 32 individual Colorgrade Mk2 chips (more than the 1m MediaLight Mk2 Eclipse, but with identical spectral power distribution) and, unlike COB lightbulbs, it does not require up to 15 minutes to reach target color temperature. This is what we mean by instant warmup.

The MediaLight Bulb is constructed differently from most bulbs and may operate differently with your existing dimmer. It is optimized for TRIAC dimmers. We recommend Lutron  LED dimmers because they offer a trim adjustment switch that allows for full and accurate control of dimming range. And the good news is that Lutron dimmers are very reasonably priced. In most cases, other dimmers will be just fine, but you may notice the following issues:
  • Smaller amount of dimming range (Typically 70-90% range vs. 100% with incandescent). It may not go as low or as high.
  • LED Bulbs may not shut off at lowest dim setting: this is caused by the dimmer thinking the bulb is completely off due to the low amount of wattage an LED consumes.
  • On dimming systems based on X10 or Power Line Carrier (PLC) control technology, LEDs may flicker when modules are communicating due to the small fluctuations in power on the line.

It is suggested that you test your current dimmers to see if they work with the MediaLight Bulbs that you have purchased.  Chances are that they will work fine. If not, the problem will be resolved by buying a dimmer listed below:
